In the early hours of Saturday, two Polk County deputies were critically injured in a shooting at Hunt Fountain Park. The incident began around 12:22 a.m. when a deputy noticed a vehicle in the park past its closing time and approached the occupant, who refused to cooperate. The deputy, seeking assistance, called for backup, leading to the arrival of Lt. Chad Anderson and Deputy Craig Smith among others.
Unbeknownst to the deputies, the individual was a sovereign citizen, specifically a Moorish sovereign citizen, known for resisting law enforcement and disregarding federal, state, and local laws. When the deputies attempted to remove the man from his vehicle, he opened fire, hitting Lt. Anderson in the arm and chest and wounding Deputy Smith four times.
Lt. Anderson managed to return fire, and backup deputies also engaged the suspect, ultimately killing him. Both Lt. Anderson and Deputy Smith were transported to the ICU, with Lt. Anderson undergoing emergency surgery and both being reported in stable condition.
The suspect, believed to be living out of his vehicle and previously encountered by law enforcement, remains unidentified pending next of kin notification. A Springfield 9mm XD pistol was recovered at the scene. An investigation led by the 10th Judicial Circuit's task force is ongoing to ensure transparency and thoroughness.
Lt. Anderson, a 26-year veteran and former SWAT member, and Deputy Smith, with 12 years of service, continue to recover from their injuries. No other deputies were harmed in the incident.

This commemorative bottle of whiskey has been created by Liberty Call Distilling in San Diego California. The company is marine owned and a friend to all first responders. The bottle boasts superior quality work compared to other engravings because it is sandblasted, not just etched.
The whiskey is first aged in new 53 gallon medium charred American oak barrels for 2 years then rested in-barrel with Chilean Amburana Oak staves. They’ve created a uniquely sweet, yet spicy bourbon whiskey. With hints of gingerbread and fresh vanilla on the nose, there is a pronounced sweetness on the palate while showing touches of oak, spice cake, nutmeg, and light brown sugar.
The bottles can be shipped across the United States except for the restricted states of Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Utah, and Virginia.

The bottle will continue to be on the bar shelf at my daughters after the excellent bourbon has been consumed. She works in law enforcement with these two officers. Keep up the great work.
