-------—

Police Officer Chris Reese and Police Officer Cameron Girvin were shot while conducting a traffic stop at Sylvan Court at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday evening.

While on patrol Officer Reese and Officer Girvin observed a car with an expired plate and executed a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the officers asked the subject to exit the vehicle, and the subject refused; when finally exiting the vehicle, the subject tussled with the officers and immediately produced a pistol, shooting both Officer Reese and Officer Girvin. While the officers were incapacitated and on the ground, the subject shot each officer a second time and then fled the scene.

The subject was found in a shed near the initial scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

First responders attempted life-saving procedures, and both officers were transported to local hospitals. Officer Reese succumbed to his wounds just after midnight at Princess Anne Hospital. Officer Girvin succumbed to his wounds at 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Officer Reese had served with the Virginia Beach Police Department for three years and had previously served for three years with the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office.

----------

Liberty Call Distillery in San Diego, California, creates this commemorative bottle. The company is marine-owned and a friend to all first responders. The bottle is superior to other engravings. It is sandblasted, not just etched, and pays true honor to every fallen first responder it is created for.

The whiskey is first aged in new 53-gallon, medium-charred American oak barrels for up to 8 years. Then, it is rested in-barrel with Chilean Amburana oak staves.  It creates a uniquely sweet, yet spicy bourbon whiskey. It has hints of gingerbread and fresh vanilla on the nose. There is a pronounced sweetness on the palate. It shows touches of oak, spice cake, nutmeg, and light brown sugar.

The bottles can be shipped across the United States except for the restricted states of Alaska, Massachusetts, Michigan, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Utah.

VBPD Memorial Bottle

It’s very cool but I wish the End of Watch was centered in the middle of the bottle. It’s to the left.

Girvin and Reese memorial bottle

This Bottle is such a great tribute to these two Heros, I worked with Chris but Cameron was at another precinct. I think they would be very honored to see this. I have not opened the bottle yet but I am sure it is going to be just as high a quality as these two officers were.

Amazing Tribute

The craftsmanship and presentation of the bottle is an outstanding tribute to my friends and fellow officers. I haven't found the right time to crack it open yet, but if the bourbon is half as good as the bottle, I'm sure it will be excellent.
